One day – many race options

Stavanger Marathon has start and finish at the square outside Stavanger Cathedral. The church is the oldest cathedral in Norway and from the first half of the 1100s.

With great variation in length and route the Stavanger Marathon festival of running provides a challenge suitable for all!

License – important information:

The governing body for athletics in 2013 decided to introduce a license system for all athletics events organised by clubs in the Norges Friidrettsforbund (Norwegian Athletics Federation). (Read more here). For non-track events, participants can choose between a single license and a full year license. A single license can be bought together with entrance to the Stavanger Marathon events (40 -50 NOK). Full year license can be bought on the website of Norges Friidrettsforbund.

Bib number

Your bib number for the race can be collected from downstairs Arkaden Torgterrassen, Kirkegata 2. Friday between 10.30 – 19.00, and on Saturday between 08.00 -13.00.

Online entries ends Friday, 26.Aug. at 24:00. No late registration on race day, except for the kids race. Here you can also register at the tent for Information tent in the square.

Time keeping

Time keeping is done by Ultimate Sport Service with electronic chips on your starting number. Everyone will get a net time, timed from the moment they pass the start line.

Prizes / medals

All participants receive a medal.
The three quickest women and men, regardless of age group, in each of the 10 km, 21 km and 42 km races will receive prizes.
1. place: 5.000 NOK, 2. place: 3.000 NOK, 3. place: 1.000 NOK

Bagge drop / shift tent

There will be storage facilities in tents at the starting area, in which you can also change clothes. Personell will be survailling the bags, but the runners are encouraged not to put valuables in the bags. Unfortnunately we can not offer showering facilities after the race, but we can offe late check out at 16:00h at these hotels: Comfort Square, Comfort Stavanger and Clarion Energy.

Drink stations, food and toilets

Drink stations situated every 5 km. Water and sports drinks available. Bananas at 20 and 30 km for marathon runners, and at finish for all runners.

After the race you will have a wrap with pulled chicken (vegeterian alternative), and one bottle of water.

Toilet at every drink station for 21 and 42 km. After 8,6 km for the 10k.

10 km: 13 years
21 km: 15 years

42 km: 18 years

Race pacers

Marathon: 3:30, 4:00, 4:30
Half marathon: Every 10 minutes from 1:30 to 2:30

Entrants unable to participate in their race will, unfortunately, not be able to obtain a refund, nor will they be able to transfer their entry into a later race arranged by the same organiser.

20 August is estimated to b the last day possible to change distance. However it is possible to give or sell your number. Please see the e-mail you received after registration, where you will find a link, user name and password, so you can change the personal information

Due to not running down to the city center after the first half, the 42 km has less meters of altitude in the second half.
